The Temp Exhibition Space
NathanPhotoAdvent 2025
Started back in the 1990s, I’ve been photographing Christmas and now its here in an Advent format, the NathanPhotoAdvent25
— Merry Christmas
It’s the first and so starts NathanPhotoAdvent25 with the traditional tree, this one is peeking into our festive season !
What a lovely crisp day and what symbolises Christmas time more than the food. Here we have the start of eating’s symbolised by the Greggs Christmas Bake.
My travel take me in so many random places and when on the lookout for Christmas themed image, you sometimes find them in strange places. Merry Christmas for our furry friends.
Christmas spirit is lovely to see, the time and effort that went into decoration to share a bit of cheer is quite lovely to see, this time a crane over the Mancunian way.
the Christmas markets are back in the main square and the main theme was fun and games which was lovely, not everyone’s cup of tea but fun for lots.
Trees again and sometimes they leave little reminders behind in lovely crisp ways, another one of those beautiful winter light days.
Up high on the Ferris wheel you get glimpses of Christmas and this is the decorations at Spinningfields seen form up high with a bit of photoshopping to bring it out.
and back to food with the traditional Christmas sandwich this one is veggie with no pigs under no blankets, but with veggie bacon and veggie sausage you still get the same effect,
So many representation of Father Christmas around Manchester, what do you call them in your world? We have choices such as Santa Clause Kris Kringle, Père Noël, Papa Noel, Santo Clós , Sinterklaas, Joulupukki, Weihnachtsmann Babbo Natale and the Yule Cat known as Jólakötturinn,
Another shot on iPhone, the quality isn’t the same but still good. I love the posh flats especially the corner ones where you can place a tree, it’s the perfect space for one!
The lights are something at this time of year that I love, they sometime occur naturally, drips under a rail lit up by bright white light look like Christmas lights, shot on iPhone too.
Think of it as a cross between a pinboard, an occasional gallery and a work in progress space…
This is a temp space for new work…
Umbrellas. On a Sunday morning walk with such beautiful light, I noticed multiple umbrellas strewn about, in total there was 13.
Once you start seeing certain items, in this case umbrellas then you start seeing them everywhere, this on a recent work trip to the ‘Dam. 16 in total.
Zines.
These are a slight departure from what you might say is a typical NathanPhoto images, they may herald a completely new direction or they may be just one offs!
Here we are with two lovely zines I’ve just produced, there are only a few copies at the moment but there is a larger print run on the way.
First up is ‘Spaces’ a look at various spaces that I encounter, I always get the feeling that something has happened here, which of course it has by the sheer act of photographing it but has something else happened there at some point.
Second one is called “Places’ and this is a collection of pictures I’ve taken round the world that aren’t home but I think remind me of Manchester, or maybe not depending how you look at them.
They are both priced at £5 each plus P+P. If interested then send me a message and I’ll send you the PayPal link.
There is always the moon
Seeing as this tempspace is a testing bed for pictures, i’ve noticed a set of pictures that I’ve made over the years, so here’s some images of the moon…
What place the abstract in NathanPhoto?
the abstraction of images is something I’ve always been interested in but my research practice has tackled that more recently but here we are with some abstractions along the them of the moon.
This temp space is definitely the place for it.
enjoy.
Sometimes its just light…
Light is one of the main building blocks of photographies. And somedays the light is just right.
